Faye’s last(?) album. Released in 2003 and she went on hiatus after a world tour. A quiet album, except for the title track To Love. Electronic and ambient fused record. Nic Tse contributed another Cantonese song, MV. No Reserve, Passenger and Sunshine Dearest are my fav. A great goodbye album if she’s really planning to stop recording. And yes, that’s her autograph in the photo!!! That’s the end of my midnight spamming over the past 2 weeks. Thank you for your patience. Can’t wait for the concert tonight! #fayewong #malaysia (Taken with instagram)

Faye returned to experiment with electronic sound. This time a 5 songs concept based on a fable love story(?). An obvious split of artistic indulgence and commercial need. First part is definitely not for the typical radio listeners. Second part, in my opinion is too commercial in Faye’s standard. Maybe it’s to compensate on the extremely non radio friendly first part of the album. Notable track, Goodbye Firefly, a continuation of Hundred Years of Solitude written by CY Kong. Kong is one of her long time composer who helped to shape her distinctive music style. Most of my fav Faye songs are written by him. #fayewong (Taken with instagram)

She broke into the Japanese market with the critically acclaim Wong Kar Wai’s movie Chung King Express. Riding on the success, they got her to record the theme song Eyes on Me for Sony PS worldwide blockbuster game, Final Fantasy 8. Being featured in the game introduced her to the non Chinese speaking market. She become the only Chinese singer who broke into Japan Oricon top 10 singles chart and the second Chinese singer who hold a concert in Japan after Teresa Tang. #fayewong (Taken with instagram)

Her first album after motherhood and signing to EMI. Made a huge comeback. From this era onwards Faye stop releasing Cantonese album. This also marks the real beginning of her taking full creative control over all her music. You’re Happy So I’m Happy, Bored, and I Don’t Want To Be This Way Either are some of the notable singles. #fayewong (Taken with instagram)

Fans and critic’s favourite Faye’s album. She have full creative control and she did it her way. Heavily influenced by her then husband Dou Wei and The Cocteau Twins. The latter wrote 2 songs for her. 2 other songs were sang in gibberish language, never been done before in Chinese pop until then. An out of this world record. Artistic indulgence at its best that ends in less than 35 minutes. Her Kid A, before Kid A was even released. Definitely a classic own its own. Not for the faint hearted. I can go on forever reviewing this album. #fayewong (Taken with instagram)

This is my least fav Faye album. The only song that I love is Wing of Light. She collaborated with Tanya Chua in 3 songs and Wu Bai in 2. All 5 songs sounded weird and out of place. Maybe it’s because all 3 of them have a very distinctive style that when you put them together it turned out bad. The bonus Cantonese EP is much more better with (surprise) 3 brand new compositions instead of the usual mandarin cover. Vertigo, penned by Nic Tse is a highlight of this album. #fayewong (Taken with instagram)

A collaboration with her new found music partner Zhang Ya Tung. This album have 4 hard rocking tracks. Blossom to the End, a fav pick among singing show contestants who wanted to stand out. It’s a song so unique that 99.9% will fail in the process. 3 commercial ballads and 3 more experimental songs filled up this perfect album. Notable track, Hundred Years of Solitude. #fayewong (Taken with instagram)

Faye started to experiment with electronic sound. This is also the first chinese pop HDCD release. A balance mix of acoustic, pop and electronic. The album sounds heavenly light and carefree. Face, my fav track, a song that alternate between opera’ish verse and rock chorus. Red Bean, a commercial and radio hit. Little Cunning, a worthy highlight for casual listeners. #fayewong (Taken with instagram)

These 2 EPs are supposed to be her last Cinepoly album but were released separately after Faye disappear from the limelight to give birth to her daughter. It’ll make a perfect record if they were to be released as a full album. Too bad the label had an evil plan to slowly milk her fans. If it wasn’t for the motherhood, this release will be phenomenal. But then again these 2 EPs were a success even without any promotion from Faye. The singles tore up the chart, again. #fayewong (Taken with instagram)
